Seasons of Prayer

Over the past decade, I've written pastoral prayers for worship each week. These were written in the heat of the moment, so to speak. Usually composed early Sunday morning after the week-long digestion of scripture, they are graced with current news and whatever other sources fly by on Facebook, television, etc. Moreover, they are imbued with the weather of the day: rainy, snowy, hot, sunny, cloudy days that greet us and build our patience. As I prepared for worship, these are the words that came to me, the words that seemed appropriate to bless the congregation, the words that connected ancient scripture with our modern lives.
