Franklin D. Roosevelt pursued the U. S. presidency for more than 25 years. He served in that office longer than any other person, from 1933 until his death in 1945. To achieve the office of president of the United States, FDR practiced deception on a grand scale. He was a charming man, when he wanted to be, and he engaged the willing help of several specific individuals, as well as many others, in his quest for the presidency, and in his successful execution of the duties of that office.
