Rob Roy

Rob Roy is a historical novel by Walter Scott, one of the Waverley novels. It is probably set in 1715, the year of the first Jacobite uprising, and the social and economic background to that event are an important element in the novel, though it is not treated directly. In short, Rob Roy is a story about the Jacobite risings, a Scottish outlaw, true love, and the triumph of good. The book was written by Sir Walter Scott, a Scottish author of historical fiction novels who played a major part in creating the image of Scotland that is well known in the rest of the world.
