Rita Anita Louise and Annie Jane Aweebit Plain are the best of friends ever. While they like to have sleepovers, watch movies, bake cakes, swim, and roller-skate together, they are also complete opposites. Rita is a high-end fashionista who is obsessed with clothes and style; Annie, on the other hand, is happy in her khaki slacks and polo shirt. Rita is always in the limelight, while Annie is happiest reading a book. Life is perfect until Annie gets tired of always being in the background. Rita, determined to help, sets on a makeover mission to put a little more glam in Annie's predictable look. After a great deal of chopping, tucking, and pasting, Annie is ready to show off her new look at school. Of course, being a high-end fashion queen comes with its difficulties. Annie Jane can't do any of the things she loves to do; softball, trombone, homework, and even walking are right out At the end of the day, exhausted from trying to be someone she is not, Annie thanks Rita for all her help but decides to go back to being Annie Jane Aweebit Plain.
