Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second European Conference on Digital Libraries, ECDL'98, held in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, in September 1998. The 35 revised full papers presented were selected from a total of 107 submissions. Also included are three invited papers, 35 posters and system demonstrations, nine papers from the related DELOS Workshop, and a few panel summaries. There are topical sections on architechtures for digital libraries, image digital libraries, multilinguality, DL technology for libraries, case studies, navigation, information retrieval, querying, HCI, NLP, metadata, etc.
