Records and Reminiscences of Goodwood

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. For some years I have been urged to compile a few reminiscences of Goodwood; but, although feeling that it would be a great pleasure to record the many interesting incidents concerning which I might claim to be an authority, my impaired health and advanced age precluded me from undertaking the task until last year, when I felt more equal to the effort.<br><br>During the period I was upon the Goodwood estate, extending over a great number of years, I had exceptional opportunities for observing much, which few now living can have seen; and as, moreover, I possessed many works containing incidents relative to subjects associated with the family and estate, in addition to my personal experience, I was encouraged to comply with the request.<br><br>I may not have done justice to the subjects dealt with, but it has been more than a labour of love to write what I have, and I trust these reminiscences may be found interesting to those who may do me the honour of reading my book.
