Rachel's Promise

The book starts with a brief history of the title character's grandparents. Part two traces Rachel's beginnings on a farm in Wisconsin to her move out west to homestead, eventually starting her own business. In between she goes to college and starts an organization promoting women's rights. She meets many interesting people and learns many valuable lessons along the way.
