Progress in Diagnostics and Therapy of Prostatic Cancer

This work discusses the progress made in the diagnosis of prostate carcinoma with the introduction of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS), PSA determination, and ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy. The book also discusses improved operating techniques. The use of neoadjuvant endocrine therapy before radical prostatectomy is still a matter of debate, so the book reserves judgement on this technique, arguing that it is only possible to make a final decision on the basis of long-term observations.
