Problem of applying the UN Charter in armed conflicts

This book, "Le probl me d'application de la Charte de l'ONU dans le r glement des conflits arm s en RD Congo", explores in depth the complex dynamics fuelling instability in the country, and questions the effectiveness of the UN system in the face of these challenges. The first part, entitled "Armed conflicts in DR Congo: origins, complexities and trends", traces the historical, political, economic and social causes of the violence, while highlighting the multiplicity of actors and interests at stake.The second part, "The UN between the ideal of peace and the reality on the ground", critically analyzes UN interventions in DR Congo in the light of the UN Charter. It highlights the discrepancies between the principles proclaimed and the actions taken, the political and operational constraints, and the structural limits of the multilateral system. Finally, the book offers food for thought for more effective application of the Charter and sustainable peace-building in DR Congo.
