Prevalence, Risk Factors of Prediabetes in the Andijan Region

In the 21st century, diabetes mellitus (types 1 and 2) and prediabetic conditions-impaired glucose tolerance and impaired fasting glucose-remain among the most pressing problems of modern medicine, leading to early cardiovascular complications. Worldwide, the number of people with diabetes and prediabetes continues to grow, especially amid worsening epidemiological conditions and the spread of major cardiovascular risk factors. According to the Uzbek National Diabetes Registry (2007, 2010) and official data, about 80% of patients fail to achieve target carbohydrate metabolism indicators, contributing to diabetic and cardiovascular complications. Diabetes and prediabetes are rapidly increasing and, as the WHO warns, represent not only a medical but also a social issue. By 2045, the number of diabetics may reach 629 million, making it the 7th leading cause of death. The monograph presents the results of research aimed at finding cost-effective strategies for early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diabetes. It is intended for family doctors, endocrinologists, cardiologists, medical students, and educators.
