Prenatal Diagnosis

The work looks at all human aspects of new prenatal technology. It includes the view of both parents involved in making difficult decisions about their pregnancy, and clinicians and counsellors involved in diagnosis and discussion of results of investigations, as well as the view of prenatal diagnosis by society as a whole - the ethical, legal and public health aspects. As genetic and ultrasound technology is developing rapidly, it is likely that more couples, their clinicians and counsellors will be faced with complex decisions and that the debate about ethics, legal aspects and rationing of health services will increase. This book aims to lay the foundation to those debates.
