The period from the postwar time to the later 1960s is the most significant era for the development of Hong Kong. The campaigns, such as restarting land reclamation, reconstruction of city area, implementation of housing policy, buy-back of barracks, construction of subsea tunnels, and relocation of Jiulong Station all laid a solid foundation for the economic take-off of Hong Kong in the 1970s. However, the development experiences of the era tend to be neglected by people, hence it's high time to make an earnest summary. Based on the political, economical and social events happened in Hong Kong from 1945 to 1967, the book is organized in chronological order with the presentation of large quantities of old photos, newspapers and documents. It's not only a revelation of Hong Kong's development history of such campaigns as political reform, capitol construction and housing demolition, but also a probe into the policy changes of the British Hong Kong Government after the WWII. Hopefully, the book can enable readers with a novel way of statement to better understand the present day by viewing the past and to look into the future.
