Police and Me

We talk to children about speaking to strangers but rarely do we talk to them about speaking to public authority figures such as police officers. In the United States, thousands of minors are contacted by police every day. While the police have a duty to protect civilians it is important to know what to say and what to do when talking to a police officer.Derrick Dotson is a former law enforcement officer, use of force instructor, and a father who understands the importance of having this conversation with children who may come into contact with the police. The Police and Me is a great conversation starter with kids to assist them in learning about laws, authority, police duties, and what to do when they come into contact with police. The earlier kids have this conversation, the better it will be for everyone.
