Poetic Images: Ten Benches

Simple walks in a small local park --

- Feeling the rhythm of one's footfalls or hearing a river's flow

- Seeing and smelling the delicious beauty of trees and flowers

- Passing joggers, children giggling on bicycles, squirrels leaping

- Conversations with a friendly walker and his dog

- Breathing in the air, exercising the body

- Thinking about the day's events and wondering about tomorrow

Frequent walks can end up being more than simple if one sees beyond the act of just walking in a park. Sometimes we already know what the walks can do for us -- for the mind, body, and spirit. Poetry and photography can be the devices to bring about a deeper awareness and understanding of oneself and the surrounding world.
