Pinky breaks the rules
Pinky breaks the rules is a beautifully illustrated story book with a very important life lesson: the value of trusting parents and realizing that they make rules for good reasons. The story also teaches readers about hedgehogs.
Pinky is a young hedgehog who lives with her parents. They teach her everything she needs to know about being a hedgehog and protecting herself from danger. Pinky listens to her parents and is happy.
One night she meets Neo, who becomes her first friend. Neo tells Pinky that there are many exciting things beyond the hedge and asks Pinky to go there with him. Pinky's parents have told her not to go to the other side of the hedge, but she wants to show her new friend that she is brave. So she follows him through the hedge and finds herself on the side of a busy road. Neo crosses the road and curls up into a ball, knowing that he is in danger.
Seeing Neo in danger, Pinky runs to call her father for help. Mr Hedgehog moves Neo to safety back behind the hedge and is very upset with Pinky for breaking the rules. Pinky now understands that her parents make rules to keep her safe. She also learns that a true friend will never expect you to break the rules or disobey your parents.
