On the 15th of November 2017 long serving Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe was arrested by his own army. The events that followed led to his ouster in what the army called a 'National Democratic Project' or 'Operation Restore Legacy'. Throughout the entire process they maintained it wasn't a coup. Multi-award-winning Zimbabwean poet, Philani A. Nyoni was the first literary respondent to these events. Here he chronicles the life and career of the African strongman. The first edition of this work appeared on 30 November 2017, this version was published in August 2018 after the ascension of Mugabe's successor, Emmerson Mnangagwa and was translated into Swedish in 2019.
