Peer Pressure

Dad put the Joyful rock on our porch table with houseplants next to our front door when we got home. "Why are you putting it out here?" I asked him. He responded, "I think it's important to share the rock with other people too. So, they can also experience joy." "But what if it gets ruined by the rain?" I wondered. He shrugged and smiled. "Then, we can paint 'Joyful' on again." After a while, the word started to fade, so we did just that. We painted the word again in white with pictures all around it. A star, and four hearts to represent me, Jacob, Dad, and a teacher who changed our lives.
