Patience Doll

This collection of Kurdish folk and fairy tales presents a quick glance at the Kurdish folklore that is essentially rich in stories and tales of kings, princes, shepherds, common folks, fairies, ogres, ogresses, and so on. In a society that is deeply rooted in tradition and culture, stories and storytelling are, as a matter of fact, embedded in the Kurdish collective unconscious and, thus, become part and parcel of the Kurdish mentality. In addition to giving an account of a world in which anything can happen, the stories, basically, highlight such defining aspects of the Kurdish identity as courage, honesty, integrity, ingenuity, and above all, endurance.
