New York, 1925. While her children play, Rosalia unpacks boxes in the family's new apartment. In one of them, she finds her old sketchbook, and when she looks at the pictures, they take her back to her journey to America from Italy by sea in 1910, as a fourteen- year-old girl. It was a very important time for Rosalia. Like so many other people, she was leaving her home and country, and people who she loved, and crossing the Atlantic to start a new life. On that journey, she was at times afraid and lonely but she also found adventure, new friends and something more, too.
