One Form of Queer

This bookexplores the experiences of a teenage girl who underwent... something that was never outright called conversion therapy... after her parents found out she was queer. Her treatment "e;for being lesbian"e; started with psychiatric medication and ended with her involuntary psychiatric hospitalization at the age of 16 where she was subjected to electroconvulsive (shock) therapy. This experience shaped the subsequent decade of her life and the choices she made. It took her pretty much an entire decade to overcome the shattering this treatment caused, not just from the medical interventions but from her post-trauma choices in coping mechanisms (sex and substances). The vignettes and poems in this collection come mainly from the journals she kept throughout her life. This LGBTQ story is intended to be cathartic, but the content is... difficult: this content includes substance use, sexual content/trauma, strong language and suicidal ideation. This story needs to be shared because the world needs to know queer is never a choice.
