Never Meant to Be Alone

We tend to think of singleness as simply the absence of marriage. We think its value comes from the freedom that entails. Yet singleness is not empty. We perceive it as such because we struggle to articulate its real worth. Singleness and marriage are complements, not opposites. Both point toward union with God in Christ. They rest on the same promises, and they participate in the same reality. There are distinct elements of God's character and purposes that are revealed in singleness, just as there are in marriage. The goal of this book is to see his beauty more clearly from the vantage that singleness offers.
