Neuroprotective effects of Edaravone in experimental hydrocephalus

Hydrocephalus is a syndrome characterised by the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid inside the ventricular cavities. Considering its multifactorial pathophysiology, one of the factors involved is oxidative stress triggered by lipid peroxidation and the formation of free radicals. Edaravone is a new antioxidant drug with neuroprotective effects that has not yet been tested in patients with hydrocephalus.
