My Wheelchair Is a Realchair

WHEELCHAIRS are REALCHAIRS, but many barriers exist to establishing friendships between children who use wheelchairs and those who don't. Here's a book that tells 4 to 10 year olds how to reach out and make that connection, in the words of a young wheelchair user.

'My WHEELCHAIR is a REALCHAIR' opens the paths to friendship in a series of poems, with full color, whimsically appealing pictures opposite each verse.

Shared activities in the park, at school, on a picnic, studying, and playing games, are openly explored, so that naturally arising questions are answered and barriers to easy companionship are removed.

At the close of the book, there are colorfully bordered, blank pages where the book's new owner is invited to envision and draw scenes showing new WHEELCHAIR REALCHAIR friends spending time together.
