Moravians in Georgia, 1735-1740

The Moravian Brethren came to America after being persecuted during the religious wars of the 17th century. Their first settlement in Georgia was located in Savannah. The Moravians ultimately vacated Savannah because their pacifist lifestyle prevented them from serving in the colony's defense against a threatened invasion from Spanish Florida.
