Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. I have felt more encouraged to republish my own paper also by the results of investigations made by me in January, 1879, at Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Mississippi City, Biloxi, Ocean Springs and Pascagoula, immediately after the great epidemic of 1878, which swept like a tornado over the beautiful resorts of the Mississippi coast.
