Mohamed Ali

Muhammad Ali Pasha is considered the founder of the modern Egyptian state at the beginning of the nineteenth century AD. He chronicles the modern history of Egypt starting with his assuming rule of the country in 1805 AD, based on the Egyptian people''s choice of him after he overthrew his predecessor, Khurshid Pasha. The strong and resolute man coming from Macedonia, the homeland of Alexander the Great, to Egypt, the cradle of civilization, was able to establish in the land of the Nile a comprehensive renaissance project in all political, military, economic and educational fields. He strengthened the pillars of his rule by getting rid of his political enemies, expanded and annexed Sudan, and was able to Independence from the Ottoman Empire, allowing his children to inherit the throne of Egypt. He continued to modernize the Egyptian army and train it at the highest levels, until it became the strongest army in the East at that time. He also established huge development projects, improved education systems, and sent many scientific missions to Europe.
