The importance of the book stems from that it gives us a look from the inside of the Abbasid administration, and gives us information on political conditions and the conflict between the Arabs, the loyalists and the Khorasaniya. Among the most important sources of Al -Jahshari is his novels about a group of writers and paper, and also takes some information from historians and writers that have preceded him, such as Al -Madaini and Al -Jahiz.
