Metamorphoses, or The Golden Ass

''Metamorphoses, or The Golden Ass'''' - is one of the most popular ancient novels, extant, created in the II century A.d. by the outstanding ancient Roman writer Apuleius. The main plot of the novel narrates about the adventures of the noble Roman Lucius, the admirer of the ladies'' beauties, who had a strong thirst for occultism and magic. He decides to try on himself the magic ointment by the familiar witch and as the fates decree he is turned into an ass. Lucius can get his human incarnation only with the help of the roses, in chase for which the ass suffers a lot of unbelievable adventures, changes the innumerable quantity of owners, and suffers from hunger and violence. Thanks to the intercession of the goddess Isida, the desperate ass is turned into a human again and he even becomes the priest of her cult.
