Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The Textual Notes are intended primarily to justify the text presented in the body of the book. They may also, it is hoped, serve to introduce students of a somewhat more advanced stage to the fascinating sub ject of Shakespearian text-criticism. In the various appendices matters are touched upon that are of inter est to all students of the play, but a consideration of which may be profitably postponed to the study of the play itself, for after all the play's the thing.
