Given that he was to become a student of human nature with an interest in writing, Julian K. Nail could not have grown up in a better place than St. Paul, Indiana. Born in 1923, the youngest of seven children, he was exposed to story lines even before he started working as a young boy in his fathers dry goods store, which was something of a central marketplace for the greater St. Paul area.
