Fate gifts everything with a reason for existence; knowing one's purpose in life makes the experience both decadent and dangerous, something to which Eddy Pilgrim can attest. He graduates high-school a valedictorian with plans to one day be a great author, and knowing just how much time he has ahead of him, decides to exploit that fact to the fullest exent. Fate, though, has the tendency of not caring what people want; the world around him goes insane and Eddy, along with two friends, must survive through battles of a neverending war that none of them knew existed.
