Material and Ideological Factors in Indian History

This mini volume is a collection of lectures delivered at the Tagore Memorial Lectures held at the University of Allahabad in 1965, where the author was the first to deliver the session. The title is further stratified into three different parts. The first lecture addresses the emergence of a static economy and a rigid social system, as well as the growth of Indian society. The second part explains the co-existence and adjustment between the two mainstream communities, Hindus and Muslims.
