Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Most of the papers have already been given to the Australian public through the medium of periodicals, and they are now collected and offered in their present form to a wider circle in the hope that their usefulness will thereby be extended, and the end of their preparation and publication be further pro moted. May the Head of the Church smile on these records, and make them instrumental in awakening a deeper and wider interest in the great cause with which the martyrs of Polynesia were identified in life and in death, and to Him let all the praise redound, world without end.
