Marriage of Convenience

Alice could only blink when Joana proposed they married. The younger woman needed a place to live, Alice needed help with the bills, and a marriage would provide some tax benefits. Neither of them had a lover or intended to get one soon enough, and they could always put an end to that marriage whenever they wanted. It didn't sound like a bad offer. It would only be a marriage of convenience, but it could work. Neither woman expected to find a blooming romance in it, though, but they soon realized that was precisely what was happening.
