Management of Human Resources

The thrust of this book is the discussion of management as a generic discipline, based on the assumption that lessons and skills needed to succeed in the management of human resources can be taught and learned from the same textbook, irrespective of whether one's base is in the school or faculty of public or business administration. A basic understanding of the peculiarities-the similarities and differences between public and business management-gives one a better preparation for a detailed study of either system. Discussions in the book are not limited to issues of how to manage people in a bureaucratic organization in order to achieve the objectives of the organization but include general discussions on human resources development and theories of management and administration.
