Man at the Gate

Marthe returns to her Father's home from which she fled in 1944. It is the Autumn of 2000, a new Millennium. She hopes to make a new life in South West France and embarks on a restoration project in the long neglected garden, assisted by a young English landscaper who has recently settled in Toulouse. But her father's past is not forgotten and she becomes the victim of a vendetta of increasing violence. This book considers the issues of vengeance, forgiveness and memory against the background of rural French society.
