To write is to bear witness to the suffering of the people and their will to resist oppression, find their place in the world and, consequently, preserve their memory. Under the pen of the poet exiled in his own land, poetry becomes a means of expression and protest, condensing the meaning of the world to make it more credible, accessible and striking.By rebelling against his own reality, Darwich carries the torch of the singer of resistance, offering a poetry committed to a transformational project of identity, a project that responds to an extra-ordinary situation.
