Lessons from My Father for My Son is a handbook thatis based on lessons learned from acting as a caretaker foran aging father. The book is a compilation of thoughts andsuggestions in the form of poems, lists, and prose whichreflect upon the process of aging in general. Sometimes raw, sometimes tender, the book helps thereader to take a peek at the aging process by examining theirparents lives, as well as their own. The author hopes thatthe handbook might make the surreal nature of taking careof those who took care of us a bit less daunting. She wantsto tell adult children, like her son, some things they may notknow because they are not yet old. Ms. Manzi wishes thatshe knew at the onset of her caretaking what she learned,in retrospect, and shares here.
