Le Sanctuaire d''Apollon a Delos. Tome II

This book continues the study of the Apollo Sanctuary begun in the previous volume of the series Exploration Archeologique de Delos. Its content, derived from the author''s PhD dissertation, is dedicated to the small votive and honorary monuments, viz. the statue or tripod pedestals erected in its precinct from the 7th century BC to the 3rd century AD. The first part of the book presents a complete and systematic inventory of their remains preserved in situ. This is followed by a study of the technical characteristics of these monumental offerings (materials, implementation, seals, moldings, etc.), adding many chronological elements. Finally, a typology of the monuments offers an original panorama of the Sanctuary landscape that complements the historical developments proposed in the previous volume in the series.
