This book is the autobiography of John McCormack (1933-2022), who practised Law in Melbourne, then abandoned it for the Opal fields of Andamooka. It turned out to be hot, demanding work in a hostile environment. But, after five years, a chance meeting with an old friend led to him being offered a job in Darwin, after which he returned to the Law, and took up Sailing.
