El soldado mir con calma al joven

the soldier calmly regarded the youth

-He cumplido mis deseos -dijo en voz baja-

"I've had my wishes," he said, quietly

y su rostro manchado se volvi de un blanco grave

and his blotchy face turned a grave white

- Y de verdad se te concedieron los tres deseos?

"And did you really have the three wishes granted?"

"Se me concedieron mis deseos", confirm el sargento mayor

"I had my wishes granted," confirmed the sergeant-major

- Y alguien m s lo ha deseado? -pregunt la anciana

"And has anybody else wished?" asked the old lady

"El primer hombre ten a sus tres deseos", fue la respuesta

"The first man had his three wishes," was the reply

"No s cu les fueron los dos primeros deseos"

"I don't know what the first two wishes were"

"Pero el tercer deseo era la muerte"

"but the third wish was for death"

"As es como consegu la pata del mono"

"That's how I got the monkey's paw"

Su tono se hab a vuelto muy grave

His tones had gotten very grave

Un oscuro silencio se apoder del grupo

a dark hush fell upon the group
