King John's Hunting Lodge
King Johns Hunting Lodge was neither patronised by royalty nor used at any point in its 500-year history as a hunting lodge. However, setting aside what it is not, the Lodge is an architectural gem full of fascinating insights into Axbridges history during its wool-trading heyday. Restored in the 1970s by the National Trust, the Grade II* listed Lodge is now leased to the Axbridge and District Museum Trust, which operates it as a local museum. The wide and varied collection includes exhibits relating to local geology and history from the Stone Age to the Second World War.
