Kidnapped: Being Memoirs of the Adventures of David Balfour In the Year 1751

Kidnapped is an historical fiction adventure novel that has attracted the praise and admiration of writers as diverse as Henry James, Jorge Luis Borges, and Hilary Mantel. The book was well received while Stevenson was alive, but after his death many viewed it with scepticism, but by the mid-20th century, however, it had regained critical approval and study. A sequel to Kidnapped was published in 1893 called "Catriona".
