Kama Kameez

The adventures and passions of Kama Kameez, who lived 4000 years ago, are unique. They hold a personal secret that is the cherished essence of his existence on earth. Ben Shalmon was awarded first prize in an international essay contest sponsored by the United Nations. He writes in Hebrew, and Ma'ariv Book Guild in Israel has published three of his novels: Plankton (1986), A Sense of Reality (1990), and These Are the Days of Kama Kameez (1995).

Author Biography: Ben Shalmon was born in Lithuania and came to Israel — then Palestine — when he was seven years old. He is a graduate of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and holds a PhD. (Economics) from the London School of Economics. Before turning to writing novels, he headed Yeda, the research corporation of the Weizmann Institute of Science for eighteen years. He was also active politically and served for over ten years as Deputy—Chairman of the Israeli ILP party. He is the author of Plankton (1986 Hebrew), a novel about student life and university research, Sense of Reality (1990 Hebrew), a political thriller, and These Are the Days of Kama Kameez(1995 Hebrew). Married, with three daughters and a son, his home is in Tel—Aviv, Israel.
