';Love thy neighbor as thyself' comes easy to Kate Valentine and Samuel Evans. Having grown up in church, they know they are to feed the hungry and clothe the naked. When they are faced with a spiritual dilemma, the two friends set out to find a new life, convinced it is God's will for their lives. Accompanied by their friend Margaret and the McClenan Gang, they set off on a journey to the West across untamed American soil.
