India From British Dominion To Republic

Brief summary of India's subjugation by the British, its non-violent and successful struggle for independence and partition of British India. A short spell of British Dominion status of Independent India when consolidation of the entire Indian sub-continent, barring a few enclaves, took place for the first time in the history of India, in spite of a war imposed on India by Pakistan in an attempt to annex Jammu and Kashmir. During these 30 months, an elaborate constitution was framed and written for the Republic of India. Then came the first Republic Day; the true freedom, at the end of thirty months, which was celebrated with great pomp and show. Truly it was a momentous period in the history of India.
