In Islamic Sufism and its history

Work in the field of Sufi study is still in its early stages, despite the great and valuable efforts made by a group of distinguished Western scholars from the early nineteenth century until today. Their efforts have yielded the best results in the areas they have treated, which are unfortunately few when compared to the many other areas that have not yet been revealed. Dozens of Arabic books on Sufism, even hundreds of them, are still in manuscript waiting for someone to publish them in an accurate scientific manner, study them analytically, and comment on them. Among these books are foundations that cannot be ignored or overlooked in the history of the emergence and development of Sufism, or writing about Sufism in a specific era, or a specific Sufi. Indeed, the factors to which some authors attribute the emergence of Sufism and the formation of Sufi beliefs are still in dire need of study and scrutiny.
