Ibn al-Farid and divine love

This book, which is the first of its kind in Arabic, contains many investigations that require a considerable amount of patience and endurance from its author. Among the most brilliant of these is what he did in investigating the birth of Ibn al-Farid, about which the accounts were very confused, including his investigation of al-Maqri''s narration in "Nafh al-Tayyib", which states that Ibn Arabi asked Ibn al-Farid to write an explanation of his great verse, and Ibn al-Farid replied by saying: "Your book, Al-Futuhat al-Malikiyyah, is an explanation of it." Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Hilmi explained the material impossibility in that account in a way that inspires admiration.
