Born from self-reflection, I Didn't Think I'd Make It This Far is a collection of poems sharing Zakiya Chikwendu's experience navigating the internal and external troubles of life. Chikwendu uses each poem as a step through time finding maturity and identity. This poetic journey allows you to pay homage to your own experiences, while giving you permission to mourn the person you once were. Chikwendu acknowledges that societal pressures play a key role in developing identity, but can those pressures also hinder one's growth?
