This book contains five chapters that detail hyperuricemia. Chapter One proposes a preventive method for hyperuricemia through the evaluation of recent dietary habits in the Japanese adult population (aged 20 years). Chapter Two describes the importance of diet and proper choice of foods to control serum uric acid concentration for the prevention and management of hyperuricemia. Chapter Three details the importance of nutrient intake for the prevention and management of hyperuricemia in the general population (especially adults), referencing the results of clinical research reported. Chapter Four presents the current knowledge on the interactions between hyperuricemia and the kidney and the role of the immune response in this relationship. Lastly, Chapter Five explains the main surgical techniques for the treatment of uric acid stones.
